De kustverdediging en biodiversiteit lijden onder de sterke stroming in de Westerschelde. Vergaande uitdieping en verbreding van de vaargeul versterken dit. Het jaarlijks uitbaggeren van de Westerschelde kost bovendien vele miljoenen euro&rsquo;s.
