Buikslotermeerplein has a special place in the hearts of many residents of Amsterdam Noord. Conversations with local residents bring back memories of crowds on shopping nights, the annual funfair, children’s parties in the Bowling alley, eating in the wok restaurant, climbing the crocodile at Hema Square, mounting the stairs to the bus station, and many other things. These memories determine the appreciation of Buikslotermeerplein, even more than the buildings and public spaces that are in dire need of renovation.
